March 1 was instituted as Civil Defence Day, worldwide by the International Civil Defence Organization and nationally, in 2008, by order of the then Minister of Internal Administration.

To mark the anniversary, the Porto City Council Civil Protection Department is promoting this Seminar to emphasize the importance of coordinating efforts between civil protection services and their Agents, other Administration entities and Citizens in order to prevent and respond to catastrophes efficiently.
