One year after the launch of the ScaleUp Porto Manifesto, a set of commitments that aims to combine efforts and position the city as a reference, Porto continues to focus on positioning the city as a living laboratory, involving the different stakeholders of the city.
To promote the local evolution by supporting companies that are prepared to scale and achieve sustainability, to engage citizens and empower them to take advantage of the growth of the innovation ecosystem are some of the foundations of the ScaleUp Porto strategy.
The week's agenda include events such as Doing Business, Hackacity and the Scaleup for Europe Conference - already known from the 2016 edition. The first fosters the contact between large companies and startups to exploit synergies. The second, Hackacity, is already in its third edition and challenges participants to value data by using big data provided by cities that join together to promote this living laboratory concept. The Scaleup for Europe Conference will focus on the growth and how to scale to an European level as well as the role of cities as catalysts for growth.
But the second edition of the Start & Scale Week also brings some interesting new events: the Chicas Poderosas community organize a two-day conference at the Hard Club venue, addressing innovation as an accelerator of happiness, with focus on technology, media and gender equality. Other novelties are the Startup Fest promoted by the Club of Entrepreneurship of the University of Porto, Masterclasses, Mentoring Sessions and many others.
With the aim of bringing the whole city together in this "Scaleup" movement, the Start & Scale Week will also have some initiatives in the streets that, in a creative and fun way, will address some of the concepts related to entrepreneurship and connected them with the community.
